Seven Rings Cement is proud to have played a key role in the construction of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge, a true engineering marvel for Bangladesh. Spanning the mighty Padma River, this record-breaking structure is the longest bridge in the country at 6.15 kilometers and features the world’s deepest bridge piles at 127 meters.
More than just a bridge, it serves a dual purpose: a four-lane highway for the smooth flow of people and goods, and a single-track railway line that further enhances connectivity and drives economic growth.
The first span was installed in October 2017, all pillars had been completed by November 2020, and the final span was placed in December 2020.
Expected to increase Bangladesh’s GDP by 1.23%, the bridge connects 13 southwestern districts, which have higher poverty rates, to more prosperous regions, sparking economic activity. It also unlocks the potential of 17 planned economic zones in the southwest, attracting businesses and creating jobs.
The Padma Bridge is not only a remarkable feat of engineering but also a symbol of Bangladesh’s resilience and a bridge to a brighter future.
