The Kuril Flyover stands as a symbol of enhanced connectivity and streamlined traffic flow in Dhaka. Spanning 3.1 kilometers and constructed at a cost of Tk 3.06 billion, this toll-free flyover strategically links Dhaka International Airport, Khilkhet, Kuril, Zoar Shahara, Nikunja, Pragati Sarani, Banani, and Purbachal.
Seven Rings Cement played a crucial role in the construction of this vital infrastructure project, providing high-quality cement that ensures the strength and durability of the flyover.
The primary aim of the Kuril Flyover was to alleviate traffic congestion caused by approximately 87 trains crossing the Pragati Sarani level-crossing daily, which disrupted traffic up to seven hours. Constructed with significant support from China, this elevated infrastructure provides a vital solution to commuters from the northern and eastern regions of the country traveling to the capital.
Accessible from four sides—Banani, Kuril, Khilkhet, and Purbachal—the flyover offers three connecting roads on each side, providing ease of entry and exit. To facilitate its construction, 13 acres of land were acquired from railway authorities and private owners at a cost of Tk 0.47 billion. The core structure was completed in 38 months, contributing significantly to the overall development of Dhaka’s transportation network.
