The Saidabad Water Treatment Plant Phase-II is a critical initiative aimed at enhancing Dhaka’s water supply, addressing the city’s growing demand for clean water. The project, which received a financial boost of around Tk. 1,140 crore from the Danish government, focuses on expanding the water treatment capabilities at Saidabad.
Seven Rings Cement is proud to have been a key partner in this vital project, supplying sulfate-resistant cement that meets ASTM C-150 Type-V standards. This ensures the durability and longevity of the essential water treatment infrastructure. The expansion adds 225,000 m³/day to the existing capacity, supplying an additional 22.5 crore liters of treated water daily to the residents of Dhaka. With this increase, the total supply capacity of Dhaka WASA rises to 242 crore liters per day, exceeding the current daily demand of approximately 225 crore liters.
Dutch company MT Hojgaard, as the contractor, contributed to the seamless execution of Phase-II. In recognition of the project’s importance to the city’s water infrastructure, the Danish government extended financial support of US$100 million as a soft loan for the third phase, highlighting the global significance of the endeavor. Seven Rings Cement remains committed to supporting such crucial infrastructure projects that contribute to the nation’s well-being and progress.
