The flyover is situated at Mawna intersection under Sreepur Upazila, 60 kilometers off the capital.
Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Mawna flyover on April 4, 2015. The much-awaited 450-meter flyover has reduced public sufferings at Mawna point on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway.
Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) had approved the Joydebpur-Mymensingh road development project in 2010 aiming to ensure speedy, safe, traffic jam free road communication of greater Mymensingh with other parts of the country and socio-economic development of the region. The flyover has been constructed under the development project.
Country`s leading construction firm Abdul Monem Limited has constructed the flyover under the supervision of the 17 ECB of Bangladesh Army.
The work on the flyover with 450-meter approach road was completed in about two years, three months ahead of the stipulated time, at a cost of Tk. 70 crore.
